The new venture will be presented at a press conference in Bucharest on October 18th
Joining forces with the Romanian telecommunications company is Alior's way of expanding abroad. In the past the bank joined forces with T-Mobile to offer banking services to customers in Poland under the brand T-Mobile Usługi Bankowe and hoped to introduce similar projects in several other countries. Romania was going to be the first foreign market for Alior. Several years passed since then and the expansion plans have been verified. But it seems as though the Romanian project will have a positive outcome after all.

The bank is holding a press conference in Bucharest on October 18th, during which it will present its banking services offer prepared together with Telekom Romania. The enterprise is the result of an agreement signed in 2015. I assume the cooperation between the companies will be based on a model similar to the one existing between Alior and T-mobile in Poland since May 2014. The Romanian media state that Telekom Romania has 5,3 mln mobile network users and 1,9 fixed location service users.

T-Mobile Usługi Bankowe’s offer for Polish users includes checking accounts for individuals and business owners, credit cards and cash loans, savings accounts and deposits. TMUB can also boast a very decent mobile app and offers their customers the possibility to connect their payment cards to the Android Pay app. Initially the bank lured in customers with significant money back offers for some of their card payments, but the program is slowly being shut down.
