Raiffeisen's new opening in Poland will be made possible by the Raiffeisen Digital Bank project already present here and its partnership with fintech Marqeta
The Austrian bank today announced the signing of a cooperation agreement with fintech Marqeta. It is to cover the Raiffeisen Digital Bank brand, which has already been present in Poland for several years. The institution offers loans taken out via a mobile app. Thanks to the cooperation with Marqeta, RDB will be able to offer payment accounts and debit cards issued for them. The cooperation is expected to cover the Polish and Romanian markets.

Today's press release also shows that RDB customers will be able to manage their accounts via mobile devices. I assume, therefore, that the institution does not intend to open stationary branches and that all handling will be done remotely. The cards issued by the RDB will, of course, be able to be added to digital wallets, enabling contactless mobile payments.
As I mentioned, Raiffeisen with its RDB brand has been present on the Polish market for several years. It previously withdrew from here by selling its Raiffeisen Polbank to BNP Paribas. The fact that RDB is to expand its services and offer more than just loans or credits has been unofficially rumored for quite some time. Until now, however, there has been no official confirmation of such an intention.

It may be interesting to note that Raiffeisen is the second foreign financial institution that has recently decided to return with an offer for Polish retail customers, despite its earlier withdrawal from this market. You could recently read in cashless.pl about a similar decision taken by Volkswagen Bank.
