From Saturday, the limit on payments without PIN is PLN 100 in Poland

Terminal operators are reporting the launch of the first devices with an increased limit on transactions without a PIN

On Friday, March 20 afternoon, eService, the largest operator of payment terminals in Poland, announced the launch of the first devices accepting contactless payments without PIN authorization with a limit raised to PLN 100. The terminals were to be located in dozens of selected stores. They are to be gradually launched in other commercial and service outlets. This weekend eService wants to have tens of thousands of POSs with an updated limit.

On the other hand, Pekao also announced on Friday afternoon that the software had been updated in payment terminals operating in all Biedronka stores. So choosing today to one of the branches of this chain, you can already use payments without PIN authorization up to PLN 100. Earlier, First Data, IT Card, PayTel and Polskie ePłatności were also reporting the increase the limit in selected devices.

Customers of most banks in Poland can already use the new, increased payment limit without the required PIN. Their systems have been updated to include Alior, Credit Agricole, Pekao, PKO, Bank Pocztowy, BOŚ, Nest, Santander, Getin, BNP Paribas, mBank, ING and Millennium. It may also be interesting that the emergency raising of limits on payments without PINs has also been introduced in several other countries, including in Estonia, the Netherlands and Norway.
