Another insurer will disappear from the Polish market. We are talking about DAS, a company offering legal protection insurance. This decision was made by the owner of the company, i.e. the Ergo group, which is known to Polish customers mainly thanks to the activities of Ergo Hestia.

As stated in the announcement, the decision was made as part of the optimization of the international portfolio of the Ergo group, and the shutdown of operations will last until the end of 2023. The remaining customer portfolio will be taken over by Ergo Hestia. Formally, the liquidation process is subject to no objections from the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF) and is scheduled for July 1 this year. From then on, DAS will stop selling new insurance and will not renew the policies already concluded. The company ensures that its withdrawal from the market will not affect the handling of active contracts and the resulting damages.

DAS sells only one type of insurance - legal protection. In terms of this type of policy, it has approx. 20 percent. market share, and competes, inter alia, with Europa, Allianz or PZU. Legal protection insurance is a little known service in Poland. Under such a policy, the client can count on the help of the insurer if he gets into legal problems. The company will cover the costs of an attorney or court hearing.

In recent years, DAS has also developed the service of the so-called legal advice, as part of which it supported its clients in much more everyday matters, e.g. in the event of problems with the complaint of shoes, when applying for compensation for a delayed flight or when seeking compensation for hotel conditions other than those presented in the offer. These types of activities were to help the insurer to break through to the awareness of customers with the message that legal protection can really come in handy.

It seems that the company has not been able to satisfactorily achieve this goal and convince a wider group of customers. DAS remains best known for its round, navy blue stickers on trucks. Transport companies are one of the most important customers of DAS, and many drivers eagerly place the company's logo on their vehicles, knowing that a brand known abroad can help solve many problems. The insurer, cooperating with the network of the law firm with Polish-speaking lawyers, will provide support, e.g. in the event of a road collision - help in completing the formalities, contact the lawyer and pay for his services, and, if necessary, will also cover the costs of proceedings or even court translations.
